Secretary of biotechnology development headquarter expressed: we need to provide a roadmap based on science and technology in the food area of the country.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mostafa Ghanei, secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, pointed out the sanctions against Iran and necessity of self-efficacy in food area of the country, affirming: regardless of the topic of transgenic products, reliance of a country in food area is eliminated only through meeting domestic needs by designing a roadmap and scenario based on science and technology.

He continued: considering the hunger statistics and unfavorable effects of water shortage on agriculture in developing and less-developed countries and increase of world population in the future, countries of the world are planning on using new technologies to have a two-fold food production.

According to Ghanei, the most import challenge of the headquarter is related to the area of agriculture and genetics engineering. However, the issue of transgenic products is one of the problems in this regard.
