Providing an opportunity for “combined welding of oil and gas pipelines”
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the national technomart of Iran will receive proposals on “combined welding of oil and gas pipelines” over a call. Proposal admission deadline is May 18th 2018. Welding of pipes must be carried out based on PQR Procedure Qualification Record and API-1104 standard by contractor.
Technological Needs
Currently, all connection welds in gas, oil and water pipelines of this contractor are made by hand using workforce and cellulose electrode. In this method, in addition to low operation speed, difficulty of the job and high human error percentage, sometimes there is lack of efficient quality and re-work must be done. Therefore, an automatic or combined method (root welding and passes 1 and 2) must be designed to automatically connect high-diameter pipes for transfer of gas and oil products and water pipes. The diameter of the country"s gas pipelines is 56 inches and the diameter of the oil pipes is up to 30 inches (with the exception of the first pipe line). In addition, the material of metal oil and gas pipes is carbon steel with the standard of American petroleum institute (API) or an equivalent and the level and volume of welding depends on transfer projects during the year. The optimal welding operation for API5LX52 to X80 pipes with 56 inch diameter and thickness of 0.780 inch and length of 12 m is at least 50 connections within a 10-hour shift with error level below 3%.
Proposal Presentation Conditions
The proposed devices must be made in a way that they could be used for pipes with API5LX52 to X70 material. In addition, they must be adjustable for various pipe diameter up to 56 inch size. Moreover, the must be able to be used for pipes with minimum thickness of 0.375-1.500 inch, and have the required welding speed of at least 50 connections of 56-inch pipe with 0.780 thickness in a 10-hour shift.
In addition, the error level of this device must be below 3%. The proposed device must present a connection with a flat surface and welding must be associated with spattering of hot material. The proposed material must be applicable up to 17-degree slop without spraying molten droplets.
The national technomart of Iran has aimed to receive proposals on “combined welding of oil and gas transfer lines” with the cooperation of Boomerang Innovative Service Network. Deadline for sending proposals is May 18th 2018.
