Promoting the awareness of researchers in the field of pre-clinical studies

A series of scientific speeches will be presented every month in the pre-clinical laboratory on the area of pre-clinical studies to take an effective step toward increased ability of researchers in this field.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the pre-clinical laboratory of Tehran University of Medical Sciences held its first scientific speech with the goal of familiarization and increase of level of knowledge of researchers in the area of pre-clinical studies. This speech with the title of “what you need to know about pre-clinical studies” was held by Mohammad Reza Nezamzadeh, a faculty member in Tehran University of Medical Sciences and a post-doctoral researcher from University of Michigan in the United States.

During the speech, Nezamzadeh talked about the importance of pre-clinical studies, measurement of various factors that may change pre-clinical data, importance of reducing bias in research, repetition of measurement data, preliminary issues about performing an experimental research, sample size, extracting effective items from studies, evaluation of the obtained data, and elimination of unexpected issues.

In this workshop, students participated from different universities and disciplines, including hematology, genetics, pharmaceutics, nuclear physics, medical radiation, nuclear pharmacy, and pharmaceutical nanotechnology.

The pre-clinical laboratory of Tehran University of Medical Sciences holds relevant speeches in the first week of each month. Enthusiasts of the field can refer to the website of the laboratory with the address of http://tpcf.ir for more information about the events.

With regard to the importance of pre-clinical studies and lack of necessary facilities to perform such studies, the –pre-clinical laboratory was established last year with the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs in order to provide services and most equipped devices to researchers of the country.
