Design and implementation of a laboratory sample of IPG device, wireless battery charging and external projector for deep simulation of the brain is a project performed by researchers of university of Tehran.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Parkinson’s disease is a type of mobility disorder, that can affect normal functions and daily activities of patients. This disease occurs due to the destruction of cells releasing a compound called dopamine, which is neural transmitter. Deep excitation of brain is one of the most effective cognitive neurological techniques to reduce the syndromes caused by the disease. This method is very effective in treating patients who cannot use the drug. During this method, specific electrodes are planted in determined sections of the depth of brain, which is responsible for controlling voluntary and involuntary movements.
Therefore, the importance and method of deep excitation of brain have been determined. Researchers of University of Tehran have been able to implement a project with the title of “design and implementation of a laboratory sample of IPG device, wireless battery charge and exterior planner for deep brain stimulation” with the support of cognitive technologies and sciences development headquarter. In this project, a deep brain simulation device is implemented and its accuracy is tested on mice. In fact, the IPG device produces electrical pulses that are placed inside the left and right lobes of patients by two electrodes. Application of the device and electrical stimulation of brain can eliminate the disorders of these patients.
