On November 21^st 2018, the regional meetings of the global research council will be initiated in Iran, for which the managers of scientific foundations of seven countries have traveled to our country.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the annual regional summit of Asia and Oceania of global research council will be held in Iran for the first time. The Iranian national foundation will host this event. Therefore, the managers of the scientific foundations who are members of this council will travel to Iran to attend the summit.

This year, managers will come from Germany, China, Japan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and South Africa. The meetings will be held November 21^st-22^nd, 2018 in Tehran, the first day of which is allocated to the topic of “effectiveness of research” and its second day is related to the “role of women in research”.

In addition, for the first time in a meeting held by Iran, the regional feedback on the best methods to evaluate the effectiveness of research will be provided by China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Japan.

Fir the first time, the Iranian national science foundation attended this regional summit of the global research council in 2015 in Australia. The global research council is an international organization consisting of the heads of science foundations of the world with the goal of “improving the relations and collaborations between scientific foundations of the world”, “improving and promoting the sharing of information and best methods for research cooperation”, “providing a space for regular meetings of heads of scientific foundations”, “using opportunities and paying attention to mutual concerns to support research”, “presenting solutions to institutes with the intension of creating a global vision in the area of research”, and “evaluating the mechanisms of research and research society in the global level”.

The global research council holds a meeting in the form of regional summit every year in addition to its global meetings. In this summit, the international managers of science foundations and research councils of each continent are present and discuss the pre-determined topics.
