The secretary of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter announced holding the festival of “Panase” with the goal of making academic theses applicable by the Vice-Presidency, stating: the event will increase society’s awareness of the importance of scientific achievements and theses. In the event, students can explain their results in a simple language in three minutes.

Parviz Karami, the secretary of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter, explained about holding the “Panase” festival: about 800,000 dissertations are submitted annually in the country, equivalent to one percent of the country"s population. However, theses comprise less than half of their population in developed countries. That is, the number of student research done in Iran is at least twice that of advanced countries.

Advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs continued: however, a question is raised on how people learn about these studies and how their results affect their life. The Vice-Presidency has aimed to make technology commercialization applicable in the festival so that holding of the event would act as a bridge between researchers and the people.

This event raises public awareness of the importance of technological achievements and helps students to think more about the role of applied science activities in the future of the country. As a result, they have more aristocracy in the choice of subject and community need.

The president of the information and communication center of the Vice-Presidency added: in this competition, researchers and students express their achievements in three minutes in simple language. The competition will be held at universities in the first step and the finalists will participate in the final competition.

According to the Karami, the event is held to raise public awareness of different sciences, the need and directing research topics in theses, implementing and commercializing student theses and supporting applicable theses.

Pointing out that fields such as engineering, basic sciences, medical sciences, humanities, economics, literature and art and language are the topics of the event, adding: enthusiasts of the field can register for the event until April 19th, 2020.
