Sattari on Travel to Lorestan:

Knowledge-based is the winner in the fight against the traditional economy

Knowledge-based is the winner in the fight against the traditional economy

The vice president for science and technology affairs stated: the traditional section of economy will definitely surrender in the fight with knowledge-based and startup companies. Instead of fight and conflict, we must invest in and support these businesses and the creative ideas of founders of knowledge-based and startup businesses.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sattari attended the administrative council meeting of Lorestan province on March1 12th 2019, talking about the necessities of the cycle of economy of the province and using its hidden capitals in front of some of the provincial authorities.

The vice president for science and technology affairs regarded knowledge-based and startup businesses the winner of the fight against traditional economy.

Sattari considered the new definition of development as software-based and relying on young and creative human resources.

The vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned that a new generation of entrepreneurs has been formed in the economy of the country, adding: a number of these creative and entrepreneurial individuals, whose image of excellent growth did not exist on the first days, have now become the strongest powers in the economy. Many service startups have had a weekly growth of 10%, providing a new product or a service to the society every day.

The vice president for science and technology affairs talked about the honorable place of entrepreneurs and necessity of special attention to these individuals in the society, adding: no one should consider himself more important than a prominent entrepreneur since entrepreneurship has generated occupations for individuals, which is a holy affair.

Sattari emphasized: the province"s capacity of medicinal plants must also be able to increase the value added and avoid selling raw materials. This capacity exists in the province. Do not underestimate the youth of the province and you will see that in a short time, a new startup will turn into a great power in the country"s economy.

Special View of the Supreme Leader about Knowledge-based and Youth

The vice president for science and technology affairs expressed the special attention paid to the issue of knowledge-based and the youth by the supreme leader in the statement of the second step of the revolution, affirming: you can find the importance of supporting the youth, technology and innovation in this statement. The supreme leader has supported the realization of eliminating military services for key activists of knowledge-based companies, which is great. I pity those parts of the society that, despite the attention of the Supreme Leader to the knowledge-based economy, cause various barriers to these businesses and prevent their activities.

Sattari continued: we need to reach this belief that closing a businesses is the biggest betrayal to the country. In fact, closing a business should not be that easy. We have attempted to maintain value creation and deal with those who want to create obstacles for newly emerged businesses.

Expressing the effectiveness of investment in education and research along with establishing a suitable environment for the emergence of creativities, Sattari added: we have never paid more for research in the history of the country. Nevertheless, we have failed to train history making and prominent scientists. Development of a proper business environment could contribute to this issue.

According to Sattari, it is not possible to expect the development and survival of the university with curriculum subjects that are incompatible with the characteristics and needs of the native province, since these headlines are based on the need of the country they are defined in, and the university graduate inevitably goes where the knowledge defined by the headlines is needed.

Sattari described the assistance made for the formation of the ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation, adding: there are centers and infrastructures that shape this environment, including innovation parks and growth centers, and startup factories. We need to have a place where a young person who has the idea and motivation is backed up by the private sector. An environment must be provided for the youth in the province to stay, create value and generate occupations for a few people like themselves. The government also supports the formation of this ecosystem.

The vice president for science and technology affairs expressed an example from Isfahan Province and emphasized the necessity of avoiding the establishment of the industry regardless of the province"s native needs. In this regard, he continued: we have done everything in Isfahan and various petrochemical factories have been established in this province. Nevertheless, the province has been ranked third in the country in terms of unemployment rate. Meanwhile, the province could have generated wealth and occupation by relying on its domestic features, culture, and handicrafts.

According to Sattari, installing a production line somewhere does not mean owning an industry. In the best condition, we will have factory that does not require university and engineering powers. In the import factory, there is one production line that has no progress for many years and will stop one day.

Access to financial resources produced by the investment of the private sector is one of the fifth or sixth components of innovation and entrepreneurship. In fact, it is the suitable environment that must be improved as the most important necessity of a knowledge-based job. The private sector must invest in research several times more than the government so that the impact of research on the society could be observed.

Sattari mentioned creating a barrage and bureaucracy for oil-based governments, expressing: the registration office did not allow the university professor to become CEO, which means that the province"s environment is far from being knowledge-based.

Holy Affair of Entrepreneurship

Expressing that economy and entrepreneurship growth is possible by investment of the private sector in society needs and understanding their priorities, Sattari asserted: the government should provide the environment for the investor to stimulate and play the role, but the main work is done by the people of the province by helping this area.

According to Sattari, people must exist in the country in invest in these businesses, and the nature of money in these projects is very important. The research fund is where the local and innovative mechanisms could be used to facilitate this issue.

The president of the national elites foundation pointed out the continued trend of return of elites more than previous years, declaring: 50% of academic awards will be doubled in size and the cash prize will be increased. Support for elites will continue with increasing the support programs. All of these actions are in line with the development of a culture of creating value through innovation and the formation of a favorable ecosystem of knowledge-based economics.

In his second part of travel to Lorestan, the vice president for science and technology affairs met with Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Miremadi, the Friday Imam of Lorestan and the representative of the Supreme Leader in the province.

Sattari emphasized the necessity of defining the development of revision, continuing: the new and actual definition of concept of development is something that must be realized.

The vice president for science and technology affairs, the emergence of an incompatible industry with domestic characteristics and the needs of the province has been considered as an extension of the oil and state perspective to the concept of development.

Sattari also reminded the concept of knowledge-based economy as the strong pillar of new definition of development, declaring: those who are born in the province are transforming, the beginning of this serious development is universities, by selling technology, creating a favorable environment for the emergence and maturity of innovations and communication with the industry, the university places its environment in the interest of innovation, value creation and job creation. To do this, you need to get away from relying on government and oil revenues.

The president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter regarded the prosperity of the province is based on the development of knowledge-based enterprises.

Our Move Must be Toward Technological and Knowledge-based Businesses

Of course, this requires guidance, and their hope is that our youth will be guided in this direction.

Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Miremadi regarded innovative human beings as the best creations of God and those who can open the door to progress.
