According to the latest SCImago report, Iran is ranked first in the field of artificial intelligence  in west of Asia.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the SCImago ranking system was started in 2009, and annually evaluates 6,000 world-class educational and research institutes based on research performance and publication rate in world-renowned journals. In fact, SCImago ranks higher education institutions based on indicators such as research performance, innovative achievements, university website and social impact.

In 2018, Iranian scientists continued their advancement in the field, and Iran was ranked ninth among 155 countries.

According to Majid Nili, the secretary of cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter, in recent years, artificial intelligence has found a large non-hardware market with the development of information technology and mobile applications, the Internet as well as the creation of jobs such as internet taxis, internet sales and games.

He continued: currently, student and university projects are in the process of implementing AI in new businesses and this has created a leap in AI applications in the country.
