Researchers of Tehran University were able to implement the software of object recognition system inspired by the brain vision cortex of human.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Bijhan Alizadeh, presenter of project of “modeling and implementing the object recognition system based on brain vision cortex”, which is carried out with the support of cognitive technologies and sciences development headquarter, stated about this issue: recognition of objects is one of the important topics, which has various applications in different fields. One of the methods to recognize objects is getting inspiration from human vision system.

In terms of other application of this system, he affirmed: helping blind people to detect barriers, helping the treatment of autism to by increasing mindfulness and concentration, and teaching of Farsi or any other language to children.

Faculty member of electrical engineering and computer school of Tehran University also mentioned: compared to similar designed systems in the world, this system has a better quality in terms of number of processed images per second.
