As the head of a high-ranking delegation, the vice president for science and technology affairs along with 70 knowledge-based companies entered Kampala, the capital of Uganda, and met with the president of this country.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, traveled to the east of Africa (Kenya and Uganda) as the head of a high-ranking delegation consisting of representatives of ministry of health, treatment and medical education, ministry of science, research, and technology, ministry of foreign affairs, commerce development organization and Export Development Bank of Iran and heads of 70 knowledge-based companies active in the export areas that are favorable to the mentioned countries. First, Sattari met with Yoweri Museveni, the president of Uganda.

In this meeting, Sattari sent the hello message of Rouhani, president of Iran, to Yoweri Museveni, and stated: development of cooperation between two countries in fields of science and technology is significantly crucial.

He also pointed out the abilities of knowledge-based companies in Iran, expressing: Iran is known to the world due to the oil and gas resources. However, you must know that Iran has a great specialized human resources in various scientific fields that can provide the opportunity for its scientific growth and development.

The vice president for science and technology affairs continued: Iran is ranked fourth in the world in terms of engineering training and has attempted to use its valuable and great human resources to develop science and technology in the country.

Sattari continued: in this travel, we are accompanied by 70 active knowledge-based companies from Iran, and we hope that their meetings and negotiations open a new door to the scientific and technological cooperation of the two countries.

Pointing out the economic diversity of Iran in the Middle East, Sattari marked: Iran has many large and popular companies in various scientific fields, including biotechnology, nanotechnology, and information and communication technology. In this regard, several technological products have been produced as well.

Sattari added: we are prepared to transfer our experience in various technology fields to the companies of Uganda.

In this meeting, Yoweri Museveni, the president of Uganda, welcomed the issues discussed and the development of joint cooperation between the two countries, asserting: Iran is an effective country in the region and sanctions against this county have significantly affected its activities.

In addition, the vice president for science and technology affairs met with Elioda Tumwesigye, minister of science, technology and innovation of Uganda, pointing out various achievements of Iranian experts in different fields. Sattari also claimed: to reach a sustainable economy, there must be a technology ecosystem in countries.

Sattari added: in Iran, we have aimed to distance ourselves from dependence on oil resources and have achieved desirable results by the efforts of the Iranian expert in the past years.
