Development of Sistan and Baluchestan Will Be Expanded by Improving the Medicinal Plants Industry

 

Secretary of medicinal plants and traditional medicine sciences and technologies headquarter announced that new capacities will be provided for establishing sustainable employment by expanding the area under cultivation of medicinal plants and related industries.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Osareh emphasized the climatic capacities of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, stating: employment plans with a focus on medicinal plants have high priority. Currently, the area under cultivation of medicinal plants has reached from less than 100 hectares in 2011 to 2000 hectares this year. It is hoped that the presence of knowledge-based companies in Sistan and Baluchestan Province will create new businesses based on the value chain of the herbal medicine and herbal medicine industry.

He continued: various projects in the field of medicinal plants are in progress in the province, which include a value chain from cultivation to processing and export. Given the unparalleled natural areas and the province"s fertile agricultural land, some of these projects are being pursued on a mass scale and are more capable of generating employment and producing prosperity than some other areas.
