In the final part of the one-day trip to Isfahan, the vice president for science and technology affairs talked about the necessity of laying innovation areas for booming of knowledge-based businesses and startups during the “council meeting of science, technology and the working group of knowledge-based economy”.

Sorena Sattari expressed among the city"s technology and economic activists: Isfahan has tremendous capacity to become a smart city, and this capacity flourishes with the creation of innovation zones in which the private sector plays a role.

Sattari added: when we talk about innovation regions, we are talking about areas that can receive all services of science and technology parks with the role-playing of the private sector, companies and startups without any limitations. This model is efficient and regardless of the legal challenges and physical limitations, it offers all the services to activists of the innovation ecosystem.

The president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter emphasized the start of creating these regions by providing opportunities for the private sector, expressing: if this move begins, the development of innovation zones will be expanding rapidly to other sectors. Problems that have been left unaddressed for many years will be solved if innovative businesses are introduced to the urban arena, while employment and added value will be achieved. According to the vice president for science and technology affairs, Sharif Innovation Zone is a successful model of formation of innovation zones without the mediation of the government.

The Role of the Government Is Creating Infrastructures

The president of the national elites foundation considered the role of the government in the formation of this ecosystem supportive and infrastructural.

In terms of smart cities, Sattari marked: the smart city is the infrastructure that makes the city the owner of the city and earns several times more revenue without changing previous methods. This platform has been introduced by municipalities with online taxis, and if any startup business can make a living interacting with the municipality and give a part to the municipality, there will be an extraordinary development in the city.

The vice president for science and technology affairs continued: there are thousands of innovative ideas published in various areas (e.g., urban management) in the form of books. However, the implementation of this model goes hand in hand with providing a platform and ecosystem for innovation.

Sattari continued: the science and research town of Isfahan has conducted extraordinary work in this field, which has been carried out by the government. Therefore, we need to increase the role of the private sector in the area to make a serious change in the town. We must establish a zone in the town and avoid interfering in it. The presence of the municipality and the belief in such an area is very important, and the attitude of all departments, including the municipality, to these areas should be win-win.

In a meeting with research managers and research projects’ authorities of Isfahan University of Industry, Sattari emphasized the importance of customers for a research and the fact that customers lay the foundation for turning knowledge into a business by having sufficient knowledge of the importance and priority of research. In this regard, he affirmed: the Vice-Presidency has made the necessary interactions and has created the ultra-organizational infrastructures to support the interaction between research and research owners.

During this trip, Sattari visited the achievements of knowledge-based companies in the science and research town of Isfahan.

In addition, Isfahan University hosted the vice president for one day so that the technological activists based on the town could be able to introduce their achievements.

Meeting with the Family of the Late Sheikh Zeinoddin

During this trip, Sattari met with the family of the late Mahmoud Sheikh Zeinoddin. During this friendly meeting, Sattari talked about the efforts of the former deputy of technology and commercialization in the field of knowledge-based economy.

In addition to emphasizing the creative efforts made by this person, Sattari appreciated his valuable acts on promotion of knowledge-based ecosystem.

More Serious Attention to Abilities of Knowledge-based Businesses

In the final part of the trip, the vice president for science and technology affairs met with the Friday Imam and the representative of the Supreme Leader in Isfahan province.

During the meeting, Sattari stated: thanks to the efforts of the activists of the ecosystem, innovation and entrepreneurship have been increased with worsening of sanctions, and the attention given to the empowerment of knowledge-based businesses set up by creative and entrepreneurial youth has increased.

In addition, Ayatollah Seyed Yousef Tabatabaeinejhad, the Friday Imam of Isfahan, expressed: I appreciate your striving spirit and motivation that are approved by the supreme leader as well, and I hope that entrepreneurship and its path be improved with the support of the youth working in this area.
