Targeting the One-Billion-Dollar Market for Iranian Nano Products by 2020
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Saeed Sarkar, secretary of nanotechnology development headquarter, explained about the performance of the headquarter during its 10 first year of activities: according to the first strategic document, providing the infrastructures for development of the market and industry has been emphasized. It has been some time that we have started the movement toward the commercialization of nano products with an export perspective. In other words, training special workforce and improving the power of scientific knowledge of nanotechnology development headquarter was the basic move of the organization. Today, we have aimed to highlight the importance of role of new technologies in industrial development of economic agencies. Therefore, increasing the capacity of synthesis and production of nano raw materials is our goal. In this regard, there are more than 95% domesticized technology and there is mass production of some industrial applications in the country.
He continued: the second step after the development of human resource is penetration of nanotechnology in the current industries to improve the quality of these products. Lack of use of this newly emerged technology in production and optimization of products by the industries will lead to the loss of markets in the future. Currently, nanotechnology is used in more than 10 industrial fields, which has led to reduced production costs and increased added-value.
Sarkar stated: currently, the geography of nano technology export of Iran is very extended since nano products are exported from Iran to more than 50 countries. However, the export volume (35$ million) for nano products on a global scale is not acceptable. We aimed to achieve the same rank of nano science production (4th), when we were able to reach a 100% annual growth, in the nano economy area. According to plans of the headquarter, we have aimed to obtain one billion dollars until the beginning of 2020.
Guests from Asian and European countries come together at the 3rd International Masterbatch and Polymer International Exhibition and Conference in the Oil Industry Research Institute to visit the latest achievement of this field and talk about the methods to increase the export abilities. Various companies showcased their latest achievements and products from industries of oil, petrochemistry, polymer and masterbatch and complementary industries until February 5th-6th, 2017 in the international conference hall of oil industry research center.
