Following the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the technology development and innovation of petroleum, gas and coal Vice-Presidency and governor of Fars province, the industrial oil and gas technology region will be established in this region.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Jaffar Tofighi, staff secretary of the technology development and innovation of petroleum, gas and coal Vice-Presidency pointed out some of the industrial and scientific achievements within the country, particularly in Fars province. This event took place at the signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding in this regard. He stated: "Although we have attained great goals in science and industry so far, we must move further toward progress and improvement in the national scale."

According to Tofighi, technological capabilities are one of the most important advantages of development, on which he remarked: "Turnover of the grand oil companies in Europe and the United States is dramatically higher than the share of selling oil in our country. This shows that despite the rich natural sources in Iran, countries with access to cutting-edge technology and modern science benefit more from these purchases."

He also stated: "Today, we are in an urgent need for enhancing the interactions between industries, academic centers and engineering companies. Furthermore, novel management is an absolute necessity to walking the path toward progression in this field since traditional management methods can hardly achieve this goal. In fact, the technology region of oil and gas industries in Fars province was founded with this critical purpose."

It should be noted that the technology region of oil and gas industries in Fars province will be initiated and executed with the cooperation of the technology development and innovation of petroleum, gas and coal Vice-Presidency, National Iranian Gas Company, Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines of Shiraz, private sector companies, universities, academic centers and other beneficiaries in Fars province.
