Another step was taken toward the development of the scientific cooperation with Brazil

A joint cooperation agreement in the area of cognitive sciences and technologies was signed between the cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter and agency for the support and evaluation of higher education of federal republic of Brazil.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Kamal Kharazi, secretary of cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter stated in a meeting for signing the cooperation agreement between the headquarter and the agency for the support and evaluation of higher education of federal republic of Brazil: signing of this agreement will develop the collaborations between Iran and Brazil in the area of cognitive sciences and technologies, regarded as an opportunity to perform joint research projects between Iran and Brazil in this field.

He also asserted: in the past, the headquarter signed an agreement with Brazil research institute of Sao Paulo, according to which joint projects were defined and implemented. However, this agreement was the start of our cooperation with the agency for the support and evaluation of higher education of federal republic of Brazil.

According to this report, a scientific agreement was signed between Kamal Kharazi, the secretary of cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter, and Carlos Thomas, the representative of the agency for the support and evaluation of higher education of federal republic of Brazil (CAPES), to carry out joint projects and interchange professors and students in the area of neurosciences and cognition.

Moreover, the cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter and the Brazil research institute of Sao Palo (FAPESP) signed their first cooperation agreement on November 17th 2014 with the aim of design and implementation of scientific and technological collaborations between Iranian and Brazilian researchers in the form of investment in projects. According to the agreement, five joint calls have been made in the areas of brain mapping, services and tools for cognitive assessment and rehabilitation, development of invasive and non-invasive tools for communication with the brain (optical, electrical, chemical), education and study of brain recognition and social cognition. Currently, two percent of gross national product of Brazil is spent on research, which is paid at the national level and in the form of federal institutes to researchers and research teams willing to transfer knowledge to Brazilian universities. In 2013, Sao Palo allocated $600 million of its income on research and development of scientific and industrial knowledge-based infrastructure of the province.
