According to the international project of “energy and environment optimization in the section of building”, energy audit studies in 10 buildings were selected and pilot projects for implementation of energy saving solutions were carried out in more than 40 government buildings.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, “environment and energy optimization in the section of building” is an international project, which is being carried out to increase the energy efficiency of housing and commercial-administrative buildings. This project has been initiated since 2016 with the joint cooperation of the global environment fund, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs. The strategic committee meeting of the project was carried out in the presence of Ali Vatani, the executor of the national project, Claudio Providas, representative of the UNDP, Matthew Kennedy, the senior technical expert of the project from Ireland, and representatives of organizations related to the project.

In the first part, Ali Vatani expressed: the project is being carried out with the cooperation of various countries and must have the quality of national and international projects. While the private sector has initiated the work, it must be continued with the help of the private sector, and both sides must cooperate and help each other.

Increasing the Capacity for Energy Services Companies

In the next part, Vatani pointed out the importance of the activity of energy services companies, asserting: in order to move toward the path of energy productivity, energy services companies must be activated, and their capacity must be used along with international experiences to accelerate this move. In this context, increasing the capacity for energy services companies and support of knowledge-based companies must be carried out.

In another part of the meeting, Claudio Providas stated: performing of this international project will lead to a unique experience for all participants since it is not just limited to the technological areas and includes social and economic issues as well. Energy and environment optimization in buildings is not a new topic in the world, but numerous activities are required to achieve the desired condition.

He also mentioned: today, new technological and creative activities enter this field every day, which necessitates the acceleration of moving on this path. Moreover, the office of UNDP is ready to cooperate with Iran in this area to accelerate activities and play an effective role in the promotion of the project.

During the meeting, the related organizations shared their opinions regarding the project, and it was decided to establish specialized committees to evaluate and remove the challenges of the project regularly.
