The vice president for science and technology affairs talked about the infrastructural support of Iranian pharmaceutical products, adding: we have initiated the program of self-efficacy in drug production since last year. In this regard, 27 biological drugs, 50 chemical drugs, and 58 raw materials that generate the foreign currency drain (up to $570 million) will be created in Iran with the help of knowledge-based companies and startups.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, pointed out the ability of knowledge-based companies and startups to produce bio and recombinant drugs, stating: this strategic area yields value for the country. The ability of knowledge-based companies and domestic startups has increased the value of our ability in this field to about $1.2 billion.

The vice president for science and technology affairs announced the production of strategic pharmaceutical products on the list of sanctioned goods, continuing: we have initiated the program of self-efficacy in drug production since last year. In this regard, 27 biological drugs, 50 chemical drugs, and 58 raw materials that generate the foreign currency drain (up to $570 million) will be created in Iran with the help of knowledge-based companies and startups.

Sattari explained the realization of customs exemptions to support the production of Iranian drugs, adding: one of the steps taken by the Vice-Presidency in support of domestic producers is realization of customs exemptions. We have aimed to introduce effective exemptions to contribute to the development of companies and production of new and innovative products.

Sattari talked about the serious supportive program to eliminate barriers to meeting needs in fields of livestock, poultry and fish food, asserting: however, steps have also been taken in the plant field, which is a unique area for Iranian production. While importing networks have created obstacles in this field, we have attempted to take back the field in favor of domestic knowledge-based companies. This is mainly due to the fact that creative and capable human resources exist in the field.

Visiting Achievements in Iran Pharma Expo

Sattari also visited Iran Pharma Expo and was familiarized with the latest achievements of knowledge-based activists and Iranian and foreign startups in the exhibition.

The fifth round of “Iran Pharma Expo” (food and related industries) is opened in the presence of the vice president for science and technology affairs, minister of health, head of food and drug organization, and economic deputy minister of foreign affairs.  

Iran Pharma Expo will host knowledge-based and technological activists during September 23^rd-25^th, 2019 in Imam Khomeini Musala.

The exhibition showcases the abilities of producing and distributing, machinery producing, pharmaceutical raw materials, and recombinant drugs companies, knowledge-based companies, herbal medicine producing companies, complementary food, drug packaging industries, and research centers.

More than 550 domestic and foreign companies attend the 5^th round of Iran Pharma Expo, including 400 domestic and 150 foreign companies, presenting their achievements in 30 countries.
