The secretary of biotechnology development headquarter emphasized the necessity of providing the roadmap for food supply in the country, expressing: we must prepare a suitable roadmap for development of food industry in the country with the help of science and technology. 

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mostafa Ghanei, the secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, pointed out the sanctions against Iran and the necessity of self-efficacy in the area of food industry, stating: if we depend on other countries in the field of food industry, we definitely need scenarios and roadmaps based on science and technology to eliminate this dependency and meet the domestic needs of the country.

He added: considering the statistics of hunger and improper effects of water shortage on agriculture in developing and less-developed countries, and given the increase of population in the world in the future years, countries are planning to use new technologies to produce more food.

According to Ghanei, one of the challenges of the biotechnology development headquarter is related to the field of agriculture and genetic engineering, where we are in desperate need of defining a scientific roadmap.
