According to the Communication and Information Center in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Miguel Diaz-Canel, the President of Cuba, during this meeting, welcomed the Vice President for Science of the Islamic Republic of Iran and requested to convey his greetings to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the President. He evaluated the sending of the vice president for science of our country to this important meeting, considering the emphasis of the presidents of the two countries on the development of relations between them based on science and technology, as containing an important message.

The President of Cuba stated that science and technology is one of the pillars of the development in the Cuban government and he has a special emphasis on the use of domestic and self-sufficient scientific capacities.

Canel also announced Cuba's interest in playing a special role as a center for the development of scientific and technological cooperation for the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Latin American region.

The President of Cuba also announced his readiness to establish the Innovation and Technology Center of Iran by the Vice Presidency of Science in that country in order to create a platform for the activities of Iranian knowledge-based companies in Cuba.

He further emphasized on the development of relations between the two countries focusing on food and agriculture, biotechnology and energy.

Dr. Dehghani also expressed his satisfaction at attending the Group of 77 summit in Havana and conveyed the greetings of the President of our country, thanked for the warm welcome of the President of the Republic of Cuba and stated: The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in the development of relations with Latin American countries, especially Cuba, focusing on science and technology.

He called food security, health, energy and mining among Iran's favorite priorities for the development of technological cooperation between the two countries and emphasized that the vice presidency of science, technology and knowledge-based economy has special programs to encourage the private sector and support the activation of capacity for Iranian knowledge-based companies in Cuba.
