Afshin:
tripling of the credits of the National Science Foundation, necessity of non-participation of the government and universities in knowledge-based companies, reviving the supportive plans of the National Elites Foundation
Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-based Economy, emphasizing the necessity of reviving the role of professors and universities as the source of the country's innovation and technology ecosystem, emphasizing the non-interference and any form of government ownership and the lack of university ownership in knowledge-based companies. He announced the tripling of the funds allocated to the National Science Foundation and the revival of the supporting plans of the National Elites Foundation.
According to the Communication and Information Center in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Hossein Afshin, who on the second day of his trip to Khorasan Razavi Province, spoke to the elites, professors and scientific leaders of Razavi Khorasan Province at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Emphasizing that the accountability of the Elites Foundation to the elite people should be increased and their evaluation mechanisms should also be clearly stated, he continued: The projects of the National Elites Foundation, such as the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan project, will be revived with a new method from the end of this month. Also, the executive regulations of two other projects will be prepared soon.
The head of the National Elites Foundation further noted that the ceremony of honoring the scientific leaders of the country is also active and exquisite awards will be given to about 100 winners of the award. In addition to these three joint projects with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the details of which are from It will be announced by the Ministry of Science.
Stating that the condition of the Vice Presidency of Science to support universities and science and technology parks is their central program, he stated: There is a thought that the output of knowledge-based companies leads to a knowledge-based economy, while it should be noted that universities are the source of creating knowledge-based companies. A knowledge-based economy cannot be achieved without a scientific revolution, and knowledge-based companies cannot take the place of university professors. Based on this, one of the issues that we pay attention to is to remove the slack that has been created in universities, professors and the private sector in the last few years, and therefore, in this short period, the budget of the National Science Foundation of Iran has tripled, which is the only way to directly support the professors.
Afshin continued: The government should support knowledge-based companies and provide infrastructure so that the companies can become independent and flourish. The government should not have any kind of ownership or interference in the management of knowledge-based companies. The experience of university-based knowledge companies has also shown that even the shareholding of universities in knowledge-based companies is not a correct action.
The head of the National Elites Foundation further mentioned the implementation of two projects "Shahid Shahriari" and "Jahat" to attract elites to the academic faculties of universities.
It should be mentioned that in this meeting, Azimi, the Parliament member of Mashhad in the Islamic Council, was also present with a group of elites and scientific leaders of the province expressed their points of view and demands to the Vice President of Science.
Before this meeting, the Vice President of Science and a group of his deputies visited the exhibition of the achievements of some companies located in the science and technology park of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
