Center for international interactions in science and technology and the national science foundation has aimed to send a delegation consisting of Iranian knowledge-based companies to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia February 20^th-24^th, 2018.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, sending a technology delegation consisting of Iranian knowledge-based companies to Ethiopia is in line with the travel of two delegations of business and technology authorities of the mentioned country to Iran, which have led to signing two agreements for export of products and technology with Iranian knowledge-based companies in the area of health and agriculture.

Some of the programs of this travel include meeting with government officials and Ethiopian ministry of health, holding meetings with the investment commission of Ethiopia, holding effort of investment institutions in Ethiopia, meeting with the authorities of ministry of industry of Ethiopia, holding bilateral meetings with corresponding companies Ethiopian companies, visiting the business exhibition of Addis Ababa (the largest Ethiopian business exhibition, and meeting the specialized health exhibition of Addis Ababa.

With more than 104 million people, Ethiopia has a great potential for export of products and technologies in pharmaceutical area, as well as medicine and agriculture equipment. While Ethiopia has had economic growth of about 6% in the past years, there is a significantly low export volume of Iran to this country with the value of 2.5 million dollars.

Research on the market has demonstrated that some of the areas of this country with a high investment potential are technologies areas of production of water and electricity equipment, production of food products, especially oil, new equipment in animal husbandry field, production of industrial, agricultural, road and transportation and home appliances machinery through SKD/CKD method, production of textile and cloths (with regard to local production of cotton and scores of Ethiopian government for the mentioned industries, export and production of spare parts, and export of home appliances (refrigerator, electrical oven, electrical water heaters, furniture and administrative equipment).

Moreover, other high-potential areas for investment in Ethiopia include establishment of a small refinery for oil products, issuance or joint production of human and livestock medications, issuance or production of medical and hospital equipment, software and telecommunication area, investment in health area (construction of treatment clinics and special hospitals) and area of waste and industrial wastewater products.
