Iran joins pioneering countries in the field of genetics

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, pointed out the abilities of knowledge-based companies of the country in the field of genetics on the inauguration ceremony of “the first genome reference of Iran”, stating: Iran has significant potentials in this field and by taking accurate steps toward the formation of innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and using the domestic and non-resident human resources, we can be among the pioneering countries of this field in the future.

Remarkable Human Resource Capacity

President of the national elites foundation pointed out the Iranians, who attend top universities of the world, expressing: we have interactions with these individuals and using their capacities can contribute to more growth in the country.

He added: in the past years, many Iranian researchers, who were living abroad, were returned to Iran, and we have sent Iranians to outside the country to obtain more efficient achievements.

Importance of Role of Research in Economy by Modification of Attitudes

President of the knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter regarded the modification of infrastructural approaches to research and entrepreneurship as the most important factor for effectiveness of knowledge-based businesses on the economy of the country.

Emphasizing the importance of support and attention to all areas of genetics technologies, the vice president for science and technology affairs affirmed: to date, any taken measure has been fundamental and requires sustainable development. One of the definitive priorities of the Vice-Presidency is being active in genetics area, for which we have cooperated with large projects.  

Bright Future of Genetics Field

President of the stem cells technologies development headquarter stated his hope about the bright future of genetics field and other technology areas of the country, expressing: knowledge-based companies and technological businesses create the foundation for improvement of growth domestic product, effective job creation and creation of significant added value in this area.  

According to Sattari, the research center of endocrine glands and metabolism is one of the primary steps toward the moving of economic-based research and technology. In this regard, he continued: headquarters of the Vice-Presidency will have more cooperation in the future, and we hope that use of the capacity of the Vice-Presidency leads to more growth in this area.

 

“The first genome reference of Iran” was unveiled in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, president of the board of trustees of Islamic Azad University, Mohammad Aghajani, deputy of treatment of ministry of health, and Fereydoun Azizi, president of the research center of endocrine glands and metabolism.
