Initiation of work of competition of cleaning robots for high-rise buildings

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, given the increased number of towers in macro cities of Iran and the need to having a clean façade, the competition of cleaning robots for high-rise buildings will be held in Pardis technology park.

Given the lack of provision of a commercialized sample of cleaning robots for high-rank buildings inside the country, and with regard to constant reliance on human resources and high financial and human damages, holding of such competitions is of paramount importance.

In this regard, the open innovation system of Problem will hold the washing robot competition with the cooperation of Pardis technology park and the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs.

Hossein Saberi, deputy for development of Pardis technology park, explained about the competition in its inauguration ceremony, stating: our goal is to create a complete and efficient system from idea to market.

He expressed his hope about this issue and stated that fortunately, this will solve the problem, so that we could pay attention to other problems in the next years.

The final robots will be evaluated in the primary stage in August 2018 and the selected teams will be introduced for the main and final stage.

Over the past few decades, attention to robots and their use in daily life have significantly increased. In the academic settings, robot competitions, from football to fight, assisting to flying, have been significantly held in these years. The main cause of this increase has been the ability of robots in performing repeated jobs or those that are difficult for humans, including cleaning high-rise windows.

Construction companies and towers often recruit individuals for periods of several months to clean their windows. This is associated with high risks and does not have the necessary quality since the intervals are long and the windows could be dirty after a short duration.

Competition of “cleaning robots” will be held due to the order of Pardis technology park. At the end of the competition, a prize of one billion IRR and another prize that guarantees the purchase contract (two billion IRR) will be provided for the best design.
