According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the cognitive sciences and technologies development headquarter, supporter and holder of brain awareness week, started this event since 2015 in Iran. This year and for the third consecutive year, the “brain awareness week” will be held February 23^rd-March 2^nd, 2018 as a result of planning and cooperation of other units and centers. The program of “brain awareness week” is held at three levels of public audience, students and university students in order to learn about the brain, recognize its the capabilities and functions and improve its performance. With the slogan of “know your brain”, this event will be held as a promotional week for improvement of public knowledge about brain function.

Increased number of brain and cognition student associations

In addition, brain and cognition competitions, public conferences in cultural centers, speech of brain and cognition ambassadors in schools, design of brain awareness week website and establishing a telegram canal for brain awareness, and holding student seminars and campaigns have been held by the headquarter in the past to familiarize society members with brain and its abilities. The main objective of the headquarter is increasing the number of brain and cognition student associations in academic centers from 30 associations to 50 associations.

Global Campaign for Improving Interest in Neuroscience Research

The current goals and priorities of this organization are categorized in two areas of brain imaging and clinical evaluation of neuroscience with an emphasis on “neuroscience”.

The first brain awareness week was held for the public in 1996. This is the 22^nd round of brain awareness week in the world. Since its beginning, more than four thousand and one hundred colleagues have participated in this event from 99 countries. In 2014, more than 55 countries and 860 brain awareness week campaigns were held in various areas of the world.

Some of co-workers of this event include biology school of University of Damghan, center for mental health and prevention of addiction in Mashad University of Medical Sciences, cognition and brain center of Shahid Beheshti University, interdisciplinary neuroscience research program (INRP), medical sciences of Shahid Beheshti University. In the children section, Zahedan University has established its campaign in Data Institute and is listed as one of the cooperators of the brain awareness week.
