Sattari visits Made in Iran robot "Sina": this is an innovation in the field of treatment / human error will be reduced

The Vice President of Science and Technology, during his visit Made in Iran surgery robot “Sina”, emphasized the high power of Iranian specialists and said: "This is the beginning of a serious and technological move in the field of medicine."

Localized Sina remote surgery robot is designed and produced at one third the price of similar foreign robots.  Necessary tests were performed in the presence of Sorena Sattari, Vice President for Science and Technology.

Today, during this visit, remote tests of this robot were performed on an animal specimen from a distance of 7 km for the first time in the country. This Iranian invention has been registered in European and American countries.

During the visit, the Vice President for Science and Technology also said: "We consider this technology as the beginning of a serious movement in the country and we hope that its animal tests will be completed as soon as possible and will enter human tests."

Sattari added: this type of surgery does not have the errors and problems of ordinary surgeries. Deficiencies such as hand tremors and human errors, which can reduce the risk of surgery.

The head of the National Elites Foundation continued: "This system allows the surgeon to perform this surgery from thousands of kilometers away in situations where patient transfer is dangerous and difficult."

"After that, we hope that the animal tests will be completed in another year," said the Vice President for Science and Technology. Sattari also stated: This is a great and significant innovation in medical surgeries. We hope this work will be developed soon.

Sina surgical robot has 16 joints equipped with an electric motor that is able to perform the most delicate surgeries. The surgical console includes a monitor, two steering robots, and foot pedals. The surgeon sits behind the console to view images sent from the operating area and remotely guides the surgical instruments and imaging camera.

On the other hand, three follow-up robots, including two instrument-carrying robots and an imaging robot stationed at the patient's bedside, carry out the surgeon's instructions. During the operation, the surgeon-controlled imaging robot provides the surgeon with an image of the operation site in the surgical console, and the movements of the surgeon's hands are received by the guiding robots and transmitted to the following robots by eliminating vibrations and scaling with high accuracy run in the area of operation.

Sina robotic surgery system was evaluated in animal tests after technical and functional tests. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy, or removal of the gallbladder through three five-millimeter incisions, is one of the most common operations performed on live sheep (under general anesthesia and in a operating room similar to a human operating room) using this system in the belly of an animal.
