According to the Communication and Information Center in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the "National Open Source Artificial Intelligence Platform" was unveiled in the presence of the Vice President of Science to provide access to artificial intelligence infrastructure and tools for experts, researchers, technologists, and the general public.

At this ceremony, Hossein Afshin, referring to the support of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, stated: when we presented the "National Artificial Intelligence Program of Iran" to him, we said that March would be realizing a dream. The Leader of the Revolution, on the same day at the Pioneers of Progress Exhibition, asked when the work would be completed and emphasized that it is an important task; be sure to follow up. Today, with pride and of course humility, I announce that the National Artificial Intelligence Platform of Iran has been realized, tangible, and real before the leadership and people of Iran.

Stating that the National Artificial Intelligence Platform is the beginning of Iran's movement on the path of developing artificial intelligence, he added: "Today is not just the unveiling of a platform, but we have entrusted the future in the hands of each and every child of Iran in an open-source manner. This platform is not just a technology, but also provides the basis for realizing technological justice in Iran."

Providing Infrastructure and Software for the Development of Artificial Intelligence

The head of the National Elites Foundation, referring to facilitating public access to the national AI platform, said: "From today, a student in a remote village or a researcher in the heart of Tehran will benefit equally from artificial intelligence."

Afshin, referring to Iran's membership in the Global AI Club, said: "We owe this membership to the unpretentious and committed team that has provided the powerful data processing infrastructure (GPU Farm) in the heart of this land."

Referring to the full and unrestricted access of the general public to the National Artificial Intelligence Platform, he said: "In the first half of 2025, testing and optimization of products will begin, and in the third quarter of 2025, academic experts and knowledge-based companies will have limited access to these products to conduct additional tests and validation. In September 2025, the beta version will be unveiled, and in March 2026, the final and supplementary version will be presented with broader capabilities and high stability."

The beginning of the path to developing a large native and open-source language model

The Vice President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, referring to the participation of 38 knowledge-based companies in the process of developing the national artificial intelligence platform, stated: "The formation of the national artificial intelligence platform is the beginning of the path to developing artificial intelligence technology, and the process of achieving technological independence will move forward step by step."

Afshin stated that the next big path is to create a large Iranian language model, completely native and open source, and added: "This model is not just a technological step; it is also the beginning of a new era in national technology that reduces the country's reliance on foreign models. In addition to helping expand the use of the Persian language in the digital world, it will also pave the way for the growth of artificial intelligence in all industries in the country."

Moving in step with global technological advances through science and technology diplomacy

The Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy stated that scientific and technological diplomacy is one of the serious priorities for moving on the path of scientific and technological progress: The Vice President of Science has extensive and deep connections with leading countries in the field of artificial intelligence, the details of which we prefer to remain silent until definitive results are reached; because we believe that the more science and technology diplomacy progresses in silence, the louder its voice will be in practice.

Universities’ participation in creating AI assistants for the government cabinet

Referring to the design and implementation of AI assistants for government cabinet members in collaboration with leading universities in the country, Afshin stated: “We have now signed serious contracts with 13 of the country’s top universities. Academic experts are ready to deploy a new generation of intelligent management tools in executive agencies as soon as they receive data from organizations and ministries; in some areas, this process has begun and has yielded promising results.”

The head of the National Elites Foundation stated that the goal of these AI-based assistants is to increase accuracy, speed, and intelligence in decision-making and management of the country, adding: "These tools help the government make its decisions more accurate, humane, and intelligent."

Afshin, stating that the future of the world is passing through the path of artificial intelligence, added: The 21st century is the century of technologies, and the heart of these technologies is artificial intelligence.

Emphasizing that moving towards technological advancements and achieving future technology has no room for complacency, he continued: Every mistake in the path of simple technologies may be remediable, but in a complex field like artificial intelligence, every mistake will set the country back from the rapid movement of the world.
