Accelerated rotation of Knowledge-based Economy Wheels
Given the ever-increasing growth of knowledge-based companies and production of wealth from science, the discourse of knowledge-based economy has gained a prominent place, and by institutionalizing it we can see a new wave of development and transformation in knowledge-based companies.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the year 2013 marks the start of evolutions in the economy of the country. A year that involved the start of booming of knowledge-based activities. While the law to “support knowledge-based companies and institutes and commercialize innovations and inventions” was approved in 2010 in plenary meeting of the Islamic consultative assembly, implementation of the program was concomitant with the start of the 11th government. On that time, only 10 knowledge-based companies were active. However, more than 4500 knowledge-based companies have helped us to move toward self-efficacy.
Nevertheless, more players are involved in the knowledge-based economy. Startups, growth centers, science and technology parks, scientific centers, innovation factories and accelerators are other players that work for the knowledge-based economy and replacing the oil-based economy with the economy of resistance. These players have paved the way for growth of knowledge-based economy.
Now that this human resource is provided in the country, more effective steps must be taken to create an innovation and technology ecosystem in the country. In this ecosystem of actors, such as science centers, science and technology parks, growth centers and accelerators must shape the knowledge-based economy, with the guidance of this workforce.
Currently, despite this ecosystem, the market for specialist recruitment in the country has grown substantially. The more the knowledge-based companies, the higher foreign currency entry into the country. To date, more than 15 thousand workforce have been recruited by these companies. Yes, all these activities are taking place in the country at a rapid pace. Nevertheless, another thing that should not be overlooked is the discourse of knowledge-based economy at the community level. In fact, all people must learn about this topic. In this regard, the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter has performed many promotional activities to carry out the culture-building the ecosystem in the country. While science and technology programs in the media and news agencies were scarce, this important issue has been known by all people with the help of the headquarter and in cooperation with IRIB.
