According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the support foundation for biotechnology investment has been established with the goal of financial supply of projects based on innovative businesses, commercialization of innovative projects, participation in biotechnology projects, elimination of barriers and problems of companies in the path of commercialization and production of bio products and improving the level of the country in this area.

This foundation has put the development of marine biotechnology, which is one of the crucial and prioritized areas in the biotechnology field, on its list of financial supports. Marine biotechnology is a relatively new field, that is related to the discovery and use of products and processes derived from marine organisms. These creatures are unique sources of compounds with industrial potentials in areas, such as production of medicine, cosmetics, food additives, molecular explorers, enzymes, special chemical compounds and compounds exploited in agriculture.
