Maturity of Knowledge Production in Iran; International References to the Country's Scientific Articles Improved by Two Ranks

A two-rank improvement in the references to the scientific articles of our country has been reported by Scimago Journal & Country Rank. According to the report, Iran was ranked 15th in this regard in 2019, which was higher than countries such as Brazil, Russia and Turkey.

This index, which is a function of the ranking of countries in the number of published articles, ranked Iran 15th in the world. A position that was improved by Iran with two ranks. Meanwhile, in 2018, Iran was ranked 17th in the world in the index of references to scientific articles.

In this international index, the United States still holds the first place in the world; But predictions suggest that China will overtake the United States.

Because this index is a function of the ranking of countries in the number of published international articles. However, it is still a significant distance from China in terms of references to American scientific papers.

According to the announcement of Scimago Journal & Country Rank, China has surpassed the United States with 684,000 scientific papers, producing 678,000 scientific papers. A phenomenon that changed the scientific equations of the world and ended the years of the United States’ superiority in the publishing scientific articles.

According to the 2019 report, the United States, China and England are ranked first-third in the world, and Iran is 15th on the ranking system following South Korea, which is higher than countries such as Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Occupied Palestinian Territory and Egypt.
