Challenges and Opportunities of Computer Games Will Be Evaluated in Iran

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the third national conference and first international conference of “Computer Games; Opportunities and Challenges” was held in Isfahan in the presence of about 300 researchers.

In this event, research on various areas of computer games, such as psychology, sociology, information technology, art, medicine, management and economy was presented.

Given the special look to new technologies, such as simulation, augmented reality, virtual reality and combined reality in this conference, relevant studies have a special place in the festival, in a way that approaches of medical engineering, neurology and cognitive science were significantly covered on the conference and a great number of articles, workshops and panels were observed in the conference.

In addition, three key lectures of the conference with the topic of virtual reality were presented by Choongjae Im from Keimung University of South Korea. Two other key lecturers were Georgios N. Yannakakis from University of Malta (on artificial engineering) and Tobias Greitemeyer from Innsbruck with the topic of prosocial games.

During the brain mapping national conference, the library, equipment and services provided by this national center were evaluated by professors and participants to develop brain mapping area.

Moreover, the workshop of the new generation of computer games with the approach of improvement of mental skills was held by Mohammad Javad Darvishi, expert in the area of library signal processing.

Hamed Azarnoush, associate professor of medical engineering in Amir Kabir University, presented his results in Montreal Neurology Institute about VR neurosurgical simulator.

At the end of the conference, the marathon of game production was initiated, so that young game developers could be challenged in a friendly environment. The theme of the game production section was constructing games with only one operator, for instance just the act of click or drag was allowed for mobile games.
