According to the vice president for science and technology affairs, university boosts knowledge-based production by supplying its most important product, which is creative and entrepreneurial human resources, to the community and providing the foundation for its innovations.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, innovators and technologists of University of Tehran gathered in the campus of technical schools of this university. The hall was filled by startup teams, which have established creative ideas and have reached commercialization or investment stages. These teams introduced their device or service and talked about their desired results, attracting the attention of students by doing so.

The motivation of realization of the goal of establishing a business and idea with the help of classmates could be easily observed in the visitors of the technologies based in the innovation center of this campus.

The campus of technical schools of the university hosted the vice president for science and technology affairs, Mahmoud Nili Ahmadabadi, chancellor of University of Tehran, and Shapour Mohammadi, head of the securities and exchange organization, to welcome the creative ideas of academics of University of Tehran in the first phase of this innovation center.

Move toward the Path of “Boosting Production”

During the opening of this innovation center, the vice president for science and technology affairs regarded the occupation-creating and valuable dynamism of more than 4300 knowledge-based companies and six thousand startups as the booster of productions.

Pointing out that knowledge-based and startup businesses earned 70-80 billion tomans revenues and were successful in transforming the economy by creating added value and occupations, expressing: supplying the most important needs of the country and actualization of the most important aspects of the second step of the Islamic revolution are the strategy of the knowledge-based and startup ecosystem in this year.

The president of the knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter talked about the new look at technology development in universities, adding: the University of Tehran has initiated pilot innovative programs, and the third and fourth-generation universities are one step closer toward reality with their attitude toward innovation.

According to the vice president for science and technology affairs, the universities of the country are on the circuit of support of innovation of academics and joining the ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship and it is aimed for other universities of the country to start this transformation.

Sattari also mentioned that after graduation, our creative youth establish their knowledge-based companies and startups with innovation and entrepreneurship. In this regard, he continued: creating added value and occupation for other academics is a valuable task carried out by creative and entrepreneurial activists of these businesses.

Injecting Hope to the Society

The vice president for science and technology affairs regarded valuating the entrepreneurship of academics a sign of transformation of universities.

Head of the knowledge-based economy, technology and science development headquarter emphasized that universities must accept innovation and technology investors with open arms.

The vice president for science and technology affairs explained the importance of expanding the field for investment of the private sector, expressing: investment has two government and private sectors. With the help of the latter, we can create a knowledge-based and startup business environment and achieve desirable output required by the community and the market.

Sattari affirmed that research must have a special place for investment of the private sector so that it could lead to efficient products and services. In this respect, he added: if our goal is delivering efficient products to people, we must pave the way for involvement of the private sector as the investors of research and innovation.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, this investment mechanism is extended in technology parks of Iran, in a way that the investment of the private sector has multiplied, compared to the government sector. This highlighted role ensures the emergence of a result compatible to the society’s needs.

Providing a Suitable Environment for Businesses as an Important Government Priority

Sattari reminded that entrepreneurship does not emerge from government money but comes from the asset invested in it and the society’s belief in this regard. Therefore, an environment is required for entrepreneurs to turn innovation into a business freely and without bureaucratic obstacles. Providing this environment is the most important priority of the government. 

Sattari considered the effect of universities to depend on the main product of university, which is creative, brave and educated youth, who play a significant role using their creative ideas.

Sattari talked about the importance of attempts, sympathy and community attention to realize this important issue, adding: efforts have been made to start this path by universities. using our innovative assets at the foundation of university, we have initiated entrepreneurship and technological advancement.

This innovation center has been created aiming at realizing education, research and technology and being placed on the radar of creative and entrepreneurial university.
