Universities must trust the private sector to develop

The vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned that universities must trust the entrance and investment of the private sector in the field of research and production of knowledge-based products, emphasizing that technology cannot be purchased and it must be learned.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, emphasized the necessity of entrance of the private sector to the field of investment in universities and researchers during the ceremony of the 37th anniversary of establishment of Islamic Azad University in the presence of Mohammad Mahdi Tehranchi, the head of the university, stating: we are responsible for the people and we must take steps to eliminate their problems. This will not happen unless we change our method and enter the private sector to the field of investment in the production of knowledge-based products.

Sattari pointed out that the government money does not help the increase of knowledge and occupation level of the country, asserting: despite the significantly high cost of research in the country, we still are not able to produce a technology or have a license in the oil field since the nature of technology is not purchasable and must be learned.

He pointed out the changes on the path, expressing: no country is willing to transfer its technology to us. Therefore, we must spontaneously change the previous method and create a new path in the field of research. The output of universities should not solve the problems of other countries but must meet the needs of our own people.

Sattari continued: universities must trust the investment of the private sector and the presence of the youth in this field and must be the place for the initiation of activities and work of knowledge-based companies. Currently, the presence of the private sector in science and technology parks has significantly increased and there is a 9:1 ratio in some areas. He added: scientific growth requires a change of direction and article production must not be the goal for advancement and development of science and technology.

In this ceremony, several books published in the field of science, technology, education and research were unveiled in the presence of the vice president for science and technology affairs and head of the Islamic Azad University.
