Advisor to the Vice President for Science and Technology Affairs Announced:

The first Iranian migration outlook was published

Parviz Karami, the advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs, announced the publication of the first Iranian migration outlook. In this regard, he stated: in this yearbook, the latest statistics and information in the field of immigration are provided to the audience. This act must be regarded as a valuable step toward placing Iran among the countries that have published data on immigration of their people in a systematic manner.

The yearbook is published by the efforts of Iran Migration Observatory and Danesh-Bonyan Publications. The head of the publication explained about the book: the outlook includes information about various migration areas in different chapters. These statistics include the population of Iranians living abroad, displacement of students, and work migrations. Of course, there is information on forced migration-asylum based on domestic sources and international reference reports, which can be very useful for executives and researchers in this field.

The head of the information and communication center of the Vice-Presidency continued: the outlook is published by the efforts of Iran Migration Observatory, a sub-organization of the policy-making research institution of Sharif University of Technology. The book includes comprehensive information about the population of Iranian immigrants across the country along with the share of Iranian immigrants in the global migration population basket based on various indexes.

Karami considered the publication of the “yearly migration outlook” an important and valuable step internationally.

Such measures could also, in line with the UN Charter on "Safe and Systematic Migration", provide the ground for more serious attention by international organizations and institutions, including the International Organization for Migration, in order to provide more financial and moral support to Iran.

According to Karami, the yearly migration observatory was prepared with the support of the Vice-Presidency and in cooperation with the center for international science and technology cooperation and a group of researchers and activists in the field.

This yearbook is scheduled to be updated regularly and annually, and from this perspective will be a valid scientific reference for analysis and policy in the field of immigration. It is hoped that the outlook will be an important step in the field of migration studies in the country. The outlook was unveiled in the beginning of the week in the presence of the vice president for science and technology affairs.
