Mostafa Ghanei, the secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, mentioned in a meeting on development of the innovation and technology ecosystem in Qom province with emphasis on vaccine city in the presence of the governor of Qom: one of the main health needs of the country is the development of the vaccine industry. An industry that needs the special attention of government and knowledge-based companies.

Ghanei expressed: the city will be set up with the goal of integrating infrastructure, companies in the field, repairing equipment and all players in the field under one roof.

According to Ghanei, despite the high capacities in the field of vaccine technologies, these capacities are not used properly in the country. We hope that we will be able to make good use of this capacity together by launching the vaccine city.

The secretary of biotechnology development headquarter continued: it is decided to produce native animal and human vaccines based on the latest scientific advances in the world. This is in the planning phase and implementation will begin in the near future.

Ghanei also affirmed: the vaccine city will be established in Qom. Due to vicinity to Tehran, Qom has a suitable geographical position for establishing the vaccine city and supplying the domestic needs.

The secretary of biotechnology development headquarter also marked: start-up research and development work has been done and a number of vaccine manufacturers will soon be deployed there.

Pointing out the presence of successful examples of formation of vaccine cities in other countries, Ghanei declared: it has also been successfully implemented in Indonesia, China and India and has had good results. We are also trying to use successful examples to set up this city in Qom.

According to Ghanei, the vaccine market in the world is a thriving market and we must focus on the development of this applied industry in the country. According to the secretary of biotechnology development headquarter, the vaccine city will be established in Qom province with the cooperation of the Vice-Presidency, Qom governorate and Iran national science foundation.
