The Surena 4 humanoid Robot designed and produced by a group of experts in University of Tehran is the symbol of progress of Iran in the field of robotics. This modern technology has been implemented with the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs in the form of a national technology macro project.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the Surena 4 humanoid Robot, the advanced version of which has been designed in the country, is capable of walking at 0.7 km/h and can turn text into speech. This humanoid robot is a purely Iranian product and was designed indigenously by the Iranian elite at the University of Tehran and has been offered 4 copies so far.

The president of advanced technologies and systems center of Tehran University pointed out the design of Surena 3, adding: maneuverability, increased walking speed, enhanced intelligence, and increased degrees of freedom are among the benefits of a third-generation humanoid robot designed domestically.

Introducing the capabilities of Surena 4, he added: this 170-cm and 70-kg robot has the ability to walk at a speed of 0.7 km/h and can turn. The robot has the ability to move around the sides online and can move backwards.

Yousefi added: this humanoid robot can move on rough surfaces and restore its balance in the event of a disturbance. Other capabilities of Surena 4 include the ability to shoot a ball, perform a variety of arbitrary movements such as shaking hands and paying homage and moving objects.

Surena 4, which is the advanced version in terms of design and construction of humanoids in the country, is capable of detecting 10 voice commands and has audiovisual capabilities. Other features of this robot are the ability to respond in the form of text-to-speech, visual ability and recognition of 100 different objects.

Yousefi also marked: the robot is capable of lifting large objects, writing (Surena), mimicking other people’s movements, and has the ability to perform combined hand and foot movements and changing the robot"s ear lighting.
