Secretary of advanced materials and manufacturing development headquarter stated: Iran has had a significant growth in its international scientific products in the area of advanced materials. In this regard, Iran was ranked 11^th in the world in 2016 due to the publication of 6810 articles.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mahmoud Mehrdad Shokrieh, secretary of advanced materials and manufacturing development headquarter, expressed: there is no specific criteria for describing this section, whether in the area of science or industry, at the international level. Therefore, it is natural that no such thing has not been carried out domestically as well.

Secretary of advanced materials and manufacturing development headquarter continued: with regard to the general and interdisciplinary nature of research on advanced materials, the scientific publications of this area have been distributed in various sections. As a result, assessing the level of scientific production in this field in the country and abroad has been associated with some challenges. Nevertheless, we have a promising condition in this field in terms of quantitative production of articles if we consider science production as an equivalent for article production and if scientific publications of the advanced materials area is the representative of production of science related to advanced materials.

Shokrieh also asserted: according to the statistical information on Scimagojr during 1996-2016, Iran has had a significant development in international scientific productions in the area of advanced materials. In this regard, Iran was ranked 11^th in the world due to the publication of 6810 articles after the countries of China, the United States, India, Germany, Japan, Russia, South Korea, England, France, and Italy. However, it is important to note that we need to emphasize on increase of quality of scientific articles published by Iranian researchers.
