Promoting Family Welfare with “Smart Homes”

The secretary of knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter states: development of technologies has always faced challenges in the world. On the other hand, technological development is not possible without eliminating these challenges. The book of evaluation of global experiences of startup companies will shed light on the path of activists of the field.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Parviz Karami, the editor-in-chief of “Knowledge-based Publications”, pointed out the publication of book reports on the evaluation of global experiences of startup companies in the field of smart homes, which is the second book of the series and is published by the center. In this regard, he stated: along with presenting some of the activities of the digital economy and automation technologies development headquarter, the book aims to introduce the successful global startup experiences in this area. The advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned that a smart home can be defined as a residential place or a building with equipment that can be remotely controlled by smart devices or via a smart phone. He also expressed: in a smart home, all devices and tools are connected to each other and there is a smart and controllable ecosystem in the home.

Karami pointed out the innovation literature, asserting: there are three growth generations in the innovation literature. In the first generation, attention to technology growth is the basis for technological pressure. Meanwhile, the second generation considers technology growth based on market demand.

Karami continued: however, the third generation, which completes the two previous generations, regards technology growth as the result of combination of the two concepts and their impact on the technology field.

The advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs expressed about the key opportunities and challenges in the field of smart homes, marking: monitoring the health and facilitation of families" living conditions using state-of-the-art technologies to enhance their well-being and health is one of the challenges facing smart homes.

The secretary of knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter affirmed: optimization and saving water and energy consumption in homes and offices, and creating new ways to increase consumption of physical security and enhance virtual home security by utilizing smart home appliances are among the key opportunities in smart home development.

Karami introduced the active startups in the field in the world, claiming: these startups are involved in a variety of areas such as promoting family well-being, building water and energy networking, physical and cyber security, robots and smart home assistants, support services and smart home appliances companies.

The book of “evaluation of global experiences of startup companies in the field of smart homes” is the second volume of the series of reports on the global experiences of startups in the field of digital economy and automation has been prepared and published by the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter.
