Secretary of information, communication and cyberspace development headquarter announced that based on the published GCI index by the international telecommunication union, Iran is at an average level.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mahdi Faghihi, secretary of information, communication and cyberspace development headquarter, who was the key lecturer in the workshop of international cyber security, emphasized the evaluation of the most important assessment criteria for information society, stating: the GCI index is an index published by the international telecommunication union for evaluation of the security level of cyberspace of various countries based on various indicators. According to this index, Iran is neither among the prominent countries nor among the weak countries in this regard and has been able to achieve an average level of cyber security.
Secretary of information, communication and cyberspace development headquarter stated that according to the GCI index, the weakest parts of the country are standardization and education, expressing: given the fact that there is no successful strategy in the area of cyber security, one of the main priorities of this field is designing cyber security strategies. Therefore, there is a dire need for a series of new strategies and recommendations in the fields of information technology security and education. In addition, international cooperation and raising user awareness are other priorities in this path that must be taken into account.
According to this report, some of the most important topics of this workgroup are direction of ICT and need of using safe space, cloud computing, internet of things, block chain, standards of information security, CIP, measurement of effectiveness of critical information infrastructures, visions and current threats.
This workshop was held based on an agreement signed between the minister of communication of Iran and India and in the framework of cooperation between Iran and India in this field. The workshop will continue to May 16th 2018 with the cooperation of ITU and center of advanced telecommunication education of India (ALTTC) in Ferdowsi Hotel of Tehran.
