During a meeting on evaluation of experiences of knowledge-based companies, held with the topic of assessment of letters of credit (LC), Mohammad Marfou, the general manager of finance and investment bureau, pointed out various financing methods predicted for knowledge-based companies, urging the managers of these companies to use new financial methods, such as anticipated financial tools in Fara Bourse and research and technology funds.

The general manager of finance and investment bureau presented a report on the measures taken, expressing: in explaining the fundamentals of knowledge-based companies, it is important to note that most of these companies fall into the category of small and medium-sized companies and this is important in determining the financial instruments used.

Pointing out the importance of financing knowledge-based companies, he added: in the world and of course in Iran too, financing is often done in two ways, including capital financing and debt financing and banking facilities. In our country, both methods are considered in the field of knowledge-based companies and activists of the innovation ecosystem. However, I believe we are still at the beginning of the road and much remains to be done to develop and complete the financial sector of the country"s eco-innovation.

New Financing Methods

Mohammad Marfou continued: Iran national innovation fund has taken positive steps toward the formation of numerous channels for capital financing in partnership with Iran National Science Foundation. Managers of knowledge-based corporations can be included in the investment portfolio of these funds based on their general plans and status.

This faculty member of Alameh Tabatabaei University mentioned the measures taken to facilitate access to financial service by knowledge-based companies, affirming: according to evaluations made in Fara Bourse, a panel entitled “the market for small and medium-size companies” has been predicted, where knowledge-based companies can be financed with the acceptance of the market by the capital market. Currently, more than 30 knowledge-based companies are studied in different stock exchange and Fara Bourse markets, and their shares are traded in the market.
