Secretary of group of strategic planning and studies of the marine knowledge-based industries and technologies announced: 20 axis of the roadmap of the country’s marine technologies will be finalized.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Amir Hossein Safar Gholi, secretary of group of strategic planning and studies of the marine knowledge-based industries and technologies, announced this news and stated: designing the marine technology roadmap has been initiated since 2014 with the cooperation of maritime organizations. After recognizing approximately 50 major technology areas in various marine areas, it was decided to prepare the id card of technology axis with the goal of identification of technology priorities.

Safar Gholi continued: during this process, we have used the opinions of experts, elites, and activists of these areas. In total, 18 main organizations related to sea, 17 universities and a great number of private and knowledge-based companies, as well as marine experts and professionals have cooperated with the process of designing the marine technology roadmap by providing opinions and suggestions in order to complete and improve the studies and reports in this regard.

He also asserted: in the previous version, studies of 11 technology areas were completed and their roadmap was finalized. The summary of studies on these areas are presented in the book of marine technology roadmap of Iran. The new and updated version of the marine technology roadmap will be soon published in 20 technology areas.

Safar Gholi emphasized the importance of evaluation of the current condition of technology in the country, affirming: in this book, extensive efforts have been dedicated to the evaluation of the current status of technology and drawing the technology tree in order to evaluate the abilities, opportunities and challenges in the development of relevant technologies, and determine the prioritized technologies and how to achieve them.

According to this report, the main technology areas included in the roadmap are covers and colors, composites, propellers, main drivers, special drivers, underwater robots, sea bed exploitation systems for oil and gas resources, floating platforms, measuring the position and floating and marine structures, designing and modeling the environmental conditions, equipment for measuring environmental conditions, marine laboratory equipment, design standards for marine structures, maintenance and repair of marine structures, extraction of natural compounds from marine resources, aquaculture in enclosed marine environments, and energy from waves and tidal energy.
