Establishment of Khatam Training Complex in Pardis Innovation Zone; Sattari: A New Pattern of the Role of Universities in Technological Development Has Been Presented

During the ceremony to sign a contract for developing Khatam University in Pardis Innovation Zone in the presence of the Vice President for Science and Technology Affairs, the foundation was laid for development of the innovation ecosystem, technological research and startup development in Pardis Innovation Zone.

The vice president for science and technology affairs mentioned that the new generation of universities is private and can transform the borders of knowledge and technology in the country. In this regard, he added: in the new generation of universities, the focus is on the creativity of the educated manpower and the creation of added value from the contracts with industry, technology development and knowledge-based companies and soft and creative industries.

Pointing out that Khatam University can be a successful model of the private generation of universities, Karami expressed: the university has been able to implement a new model in education and development of the frontiers of science and technology, and by entering the innovation area of the campus, it has taken a good step in this direction.

The vice president for science and technology affairs asserted that the private sector universities has made great transformations in the knowledge and technology chain with their intrinsic innovations, adding: the entrance of the private sector to universities has led to valuable achievements. One of the winners of Mustafa Prize is a graduate of one of the private universities of Turkey, which has become one of the top universities in the country in less than a decade.

Through interaction with the technology park, Khatam University has established an educational and research complex known as the “Khatam Technology and Education Complex” in an area of 17 hectares and in four phases.

The establishment of the center will enable the presence of 10,000 students and 1000 startup researchers who will be involved in the development of knowledge borders and innovative ideas. Support, laboratory and training facilities for creating innovative ideas are also provided in this complex. Also, the platform for the development of knowledge frontier technologies in the field of convergent technologies will be provided by concluding this memorandum of cooperation.

A memorandum of understanding is signed between Pardis Technology Park and Khatam University in line with the creation of sustainable communication between industry and university and cooperation with scientific and research centers and universities for commercialization of technological achievements and market development for knowledge-based companies.

Moreover, the meeting to sign an investment contract between Pardis Gen Co. and Salamat Pasargad Holding in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs so that the foundation is laid for the rapid development of the necessary infrastructures for development of advanced stem cell transplant technologies.

Pointing out the considerable abilities of knowledge-based companies in the field of genetics and biotechnology, Sattari added: Iranian knowledge-based companies are leading in the field of medicine in the region, and success in the field of production of human and animal vaccines will be the next step of these companies.

The president of the national elites foundation talked about the importance of technology in creating added value, especially in the field of genetics and biotechnology, asserting: 400,000 liters of plasma are sold annually to European countries at a price of 170 euros per liter. These countries refine plasma and sell each 50-gram vial of intravenous immunoglobulin, or IVIG, for 200 euros, equivalent to 30 tons of oil exports.

Sattari also mentioned that academic fields and disciplines are orienting toward new and convergent technologies in developed countries, affirming: we must move toward new technologies and academic fields in line with technological and global advancements.

The first series of HLA Typing results was unveiled by the ultra-fast method by Pardis Gene Company during the meeting held to sign an investment contract between Pardis Gen Co. and Salamat Pasargad Holding in the presence of the vice president for science and technology affairs.

Given the mission assigned to Pardis Ten Co. by the Vice-Presidency, the company can have access to ultra-accurate and ultra-fast HLA Typing technology. The company was able to develop this technology in the country so that in the future there is no need to send genetic samples abroad.

With the cooperation of various management departments of the country, the company will be able to perform HLA typing more than one million samples in the next two years.

This will cut the country's dependence on the import of hematopoietic stem cells from abroad and also allow the national network of hematopoietic stem cell donors to export these cells to other countries.
