Advertising Products Similar to “Made in Iran” Is Forbidden

Representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly forbade advertising foreign products with a domestic counterpart in IRIB and the media.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs quoted by the news headquarter of the second national, cultural, and art festival of “Made in Iran”, the list of domestic and Iranian products will be announced by the ministry of industry, mine, and trade every year. In areas related to the authority of the ministry of agriculture, the opinion of this ministry was received and accurately announced in the list.

The representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly approved article 18 of the bill of “correction of the law for maximum use of domestic products and services to meet the needs of the country and empower them in export issues” and bill of “correction of article (109) of laws on direct taxes” during the public meeting held on January 6th 2018.

In Article 18, we read: the major organizations of article (2) of this law and its note (2), in addition to the requirement to purchase goods and services from the list of domestic product capabilities of the clause (a) of article 4 of this law, are required to provide and supply consumer goods, durable goods, and equipment and facilities through purchasing domestic products and Iranian goods.

According to this decree, the list of domestic products and goods of Iran will be announced annually by the Ministry of industry, mine and trade. In the cases related to the jurisdiction of the ministry of agriculture, its opinion has been received by the ministry and will be announced on this list.

Moreover, the representatives approved Article 19, which includes:

In order to support Iranian products, advertising foreign products similar to domestic products or with an Iranian counterpart in IRIB, the media, city billboards, transportation vehicles, papers, and the cyberspace is forbidden and the advertising agency will be sentenced to paying 10 times the price of the advertisement.  

According to Note 1 of this article, the promotion of foreign goods, a part of which is produced in the country, is approved by the ministry of industry, mine and trade.

According to Note 2 of this article, in the promotion of Iranian goods and domestic products and the strengthening of domestic trademarks, Article 8 of the Law on the elimination of barriers to competitive production and promotion of the financial system of the country and the relevant regulations must be carried out.

According to the report, the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter has also focused on promoting culture in the field of supporting Iranian goods as well as "streaming and producing content for cyberspace related to the commercialization, entrepreneurship and knowledge economy", "supporting Iran"s manufacturing and production foundation", "organization of exports of import and excellence in Iran"s quality products", and" assistance in highlighting (Branding) of Iran"s most expensive goods", through two Made in Iran festival.
