Noor Student Competition Will Be Held to Commemorate “Ibn ar-Razaz al-Jazari”

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, the Noor Student Competition, commemoration of “Ibn ar-Razaz al-Jazari”, was initiated in the January of the academic year of 2017-2018. The topic of this round was producing short scientific videos (one minute) from the production process of movement mechanisms and tests performed in various areas of mechanics.

Similar to the last year, hundreds of videos with scientific will be presented to guide the students. The main topics of these videos are simple machines and mobility mechanism, friction, statics, center of mass, inertia, rotating movement, side forces of center, throwing movement, newton laws, gravity, spring, momentum, mechanical energy and its conversions, pendulum, pressure and floating, pressure in solids, liquids and gasses, Bernoulli law, currents, swing, intensify, and mechanical waves. 

The third round of Noor Student Competition, commemoration of “Ibn ar-Razaz al-Jazari”, has been initiated since this January and students can refer to the competition section of Mustafa Prize website with the address of http://www.mustafaprize.org to register for the event until the end of May 2018. They can send their works to the secretariat of the competition via 2-3 member groups.

In order to participate in the competition, students are obligated to send 60-second scientific videos of performing specific tests in the form of groups. Evaluation criteria and assessment process of the works will be announced on the website of the competition. Similar to the previous round, 100 gold coins will be given to 100 top works and a number of laboratory equipment will be provided for 10 research centers and 10 schools.

The Mustafa Prize is the high sign of science and technology in the Islamic world, provided for the top scholars and researchers of the Islamic world every two years. In this prize, the top individuals, who are active in the science and technology areas, will be recognized, introduced and appreciated. This act promotes research and learning of different sciences in Islamic societies. According to the executive document of the Mustafa Prize, Sorena Sattari (vice president for science and technology affairs) is the chairman of policy-making council of the event, and Mahdi Safarnia (head of Pardis technology park) is the secretary of the policy-making council of the prize.
