Karami: Creative Companies Will Receive Permission in Nine Fields

The innovation and technology ecosystem has developed in various fields every day. The players of the field have continued their activities with all efforts. The creative and soft industries are one of the players in the ecosystem. At the beginning of the path, the number of qualified creative companies was less than the fingers of a hand. Today, however, there are more than 1100 creative companies assessed and recorded with the support of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs.

Support and provision of facilities to active companies are increasing in this field to witness progress and growth. In this regard, the headquarters for knowledge-based economy culture-building and creative and soft industries development has defined nine various fields for the identification of creative companies in order to facilitate the commercialization of creative products. Currently, the organization is re-adjusting the assessment conditions for turning a startup into a creative company.

Parviz Karami, the secretary of the headquarters for knowledge-based economy culture-building and creative and soft industries development, stated: creative companies are currently classified in nine different areas of digital and cyberspace businesses, games, toys and entertainment, handicrafts, tourism and cultural heritage, audio-visual industries, design, learning, publishing, medicinal plants, and traditional medicine, visual and performing arts and other creative industries and culture.

Secretary of the working group of the plan for developing the ecosystem for creative companies mentioned that the most important evaluation index is the product presented for commercialization and gaining a share of the market. In this regard, he added: in other administrative cases, an attempt has been made to consider the minimum documents and requirements for accepting applicants. Therefore, it is sufficient that the applicant company has a legal entity registered in the legal system of the country and the introduced product and service, while having technological and commercial characteristics, is not qualified as a knowledge-based product until the initial conditions for entry and evaluation of the product are provided. In addition, the creative product can be turned into a knowledge-based product if the technical features are upgraded and the necessary qualifications are acquired.

The advisor to the vice president for science and technology affairs continued: at this stage, the most important issue is the product offered and its nature and capacities. In fact, the product or service offered by the company should be innovative and have a different level from similar activities. Moreover, the effectiveness of the product in economic, social, and cultural fields is another feature.

Karami also marked: given that a significant number of applicants submit their credentials every day to become a creative company, recognizing some products and companies will help new applicants to have a clearer picture of the accepted products.

According to Karami, services are allocated to creative companies by the Vice-Presidency in three fields of developing the market for products and services, facilitating the business environment and financial support and raising capital.

Pointing out the diversity of areas of activity of more than 1000 creative companies recorded in the plan for the development of creative companies’ ecosystem, Karami affirmed: of these, 533 companies are in the field of digital business and cyberspace, 138 companies are in the field of games, toys and entertainment, 88 companies are in the field of handicrafts, tourism and cultural heritage, 98 companies are in the audio-visual industries, 20 companies are in learning and publishing, and 57 companies are in the field of design and architecture. There are also 43 companies in the field of medicinal plants and traditional medicine, 7 companies in the field of visual and performing arts and 44 companies in other creative and cultural industries.
