Expressing of Hope by the Researchers of the Country toward the Application of Stem Cells in Treatment of Deafness
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Mohammad Farhadi, president of “the first one-day symposium on the application of stem cells and tissue engineering in ear, nose and throat”, stated: today, the issue of cell therapy, tissue engineering, and neurosciences is being recognized in research and treatment of various diseases more and more, especially cell therapy, which is one of the most applicable topics and could be used to treat different diseases.
He pointed out that about 400 projects have been supported by the headquarter in the past three years, affirming: this is indicative of wide entrance of stem cells and regenerative medicine into topics of students and researchers of the country.
Secretary of the stem cells technologies and sciences development headquarter regarded this significant improvement as one of the activity criteria of the country in 2017, adding: during the last two years, Iran has had significant improvement in area of stem cells and regenerative medicine articles, in a way that we were ranked 14th in the world and first in the Middle East by publishing 2000 articles, which is indicative of increasing growth of the status of Iran in this regard. In the region, Iran is without a doubt the most effective country, since the number of our articles in 2017 was twice as many as our previous competitor, meaning Turkey.
The “first one-day symposium on the use of stem cells and regenerative medicine in ear, nose and throat” will be held in several areas, including an introduction to stem cells, clinical applications of stem cells in ear, nose and throat and tissue engineering in ear, nose and throat.
This symposium will be held in international Razi Hall of Iran University of Medical Sciences with the cooperation of the stem cells science and technologies development headquarter and research development center of ear, nose and throat.
