Knowledge-based and startup businesses will change “humanities”
The vice president for science and technology affairs stated: the move on the path of commercialization of humanities capacities by paving the way for knowledge-based businesses and startups will create new opportunities for job formation and value creation through eliminating the society’s problems and will yield victory in the fight against all cultural invasion.
According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, talked about the importance of humanities in transforming society and creating value added on the fifth round of discourse of humanities elites.
Transformation by Creating an Ecosystem
In a gathering with students attending the ceremony, Sattari explained the importance of an ecosystem for emergence of abilities in the field of humanities, stating: the names of valuable scientists such as Ibn al-Haytham, Ibn Zakariya al-Razi, and Farabi have been preserved in the country’s history. Now, while the country has allocated the highest budget to education more than any period in history, we have failed to repeat the successful experience of emergence of famous scientists. There is a lack of presence of a suitable ecosystem for emergence of these scientists in the country.
The Field in the Hands of the Private Sector
Sattari pointed out the necessity of emphasis on the presence of the private sector, asserting: governments are required to invest in the area of basic science. On the other hand, the field must be given to a private investor who conducts research with his own money to produce a product and to experience economic growth.
The vice president for science and technology affairs regarded the presence of the private sector and support of products based on the domestic needs of the society as effective factors in mainstreaming and booming of products in the field of humanities.
Humanities and Knowledge-based Economy
Sattari talked about the determining position of humanities in flourishing of knowledge-based economy, affirming: we talk about humanities when taking knowledge-based economy into account since a large part of this economy relies on humanities. Most successful startup businesses depend on the humanities features and content production. The west has been able to create cultural dominance through its cinema industry. With several thousand years of culture and rich religious values, we can also be successful in developing the culture and economy with the help of humanities.
Front Fighters
The president of the knowledge-based economy and culture-building technologies development headquarter, expressed that knowledge-based companies and startups are soldiers at front of preserving values in the field of fight with cultural invasions of other countries. In this respect, he continued: activists in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation, including knowledge-based companies, startups, and investors of the private sector, play an important and decisive role in dealing with economic and cultural invasions. The activists behind the scene of this area, including policy-makers, cultural units, and universities, must fight and act as an inseparable part of the ecosystem to create a suitable environment for activity in this area.
Sattari also pointed out the support of knowledge-based companies and startups in this field, adding: on this path, the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs has considered the support of the ecosystem of innovation and flourishing of businesses in the field of humanities and content production as one of its priorities.
