According to the Communication and Information Center in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the International Artificial Intelligence Conference and "PolTalk" event began today, at Shahid Beheshti University with the slogan "Artificial Intelligence for All" and with the presence of activists in this field.

"Engineering": Moving from knowledge to creativity and innovation

Hossein Afshin, Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, congratulated Engineer's Day at the first international conference on artificial intelligence and the PolTalk event, and emphasized the fundamental role of engineers in technological transformation, saying: "Engineering is not just a title, but a mental and practical process that goes beyond knowledge and leads to creativity. Universities train specialists, but becoming an engineer goes beyond acquiring knowledge. Even a PhD graduate is initially just an expert. What makes him a true engineer is the ability to create new solutions and cross the boundaries of existing knowledge."

Artificial Intelligence in Iran; From Idea to Impact

Referring to the development of artificial intelligence in Iran since 2010, Afshin stated: This technology was first introduced in self-driving cars, medical guidance systems, and traffic management, and today, having passed the theoretical stage, it has entered industrial and operational applications.

Noting that artificial intelligence is no longer a purely academic subject, he said: The sign of this change in approach is the holding of this conference. Once, only theoretical discussions were raised about artificial intelligence, but today the country is facing a new generation of operational projects in the fields of oil, health, smart cities, and industry. This change of direction is the result of targeted investment and the serious entry of creative engineers into this field.

"PolTalk": A Communication Ecosystem for the Development of Artificial Intelligence

The Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, regarding the role of the "PolTalk" event in the development of the country's artificial intelligence ecosystem, considered this event to be a connecting link between the government, industry and the scientific community, and said: "To move from the research stage to application, we need a communication network and a common language between elites, industrialists and policymakers. PolTalk plays exactly such a role and is a space for the intersection of ideas, the transformation of scientific concepts into products and the attraction of capital for large-scale artificial intelligence projects."

The necessity of a sustainable economic model for the development of artificial intelligence

The head of the National Elites Foundation, stating that the development of artificial intelligence in the country must be based on a sustainable economic model, otherwise it will remain at the level of academic research, emphasized: Countries that are leading in artificial intelligence have formed a commercial ecosystem based on this technology. We must also design the development path in such a way that investment in this field is attractive to the private sector. Today, we must answer this question: How do we turn artificial intelligence into a competitive advantage in the country's economy?
