Chairman of Iran national space administration announced the development of production and launching of remote satellites in the next five years.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, Manouchehr Manteghi, chairman of Iran national space administration, pointed out that Iran is far from the development and production of remote satellites, stating: over the past few years, launching satellites has been minimized mainly due to two reasons; firstly, our country has reached the exploitation stage after the test stage for launching satellites.

He continued: therefore, developments and costs have been high during this time, which have affected and lowered the number of launches.

According to Manteghi, there is a more important reason: “secondly, global societies are sensitive toward our satellite launching process. Therefore, the national security higher council must consider this issue in launching satellites.

He also affirmed: these two reasons have reduced launches in this field. Another important note about satellite projects in Iran is that most of the Iranian satellites are related to telecommunication.

Chairman of Iran national space administration also asserted: meanwhile, satellites have more capabilities. Most of the satellites are used in meteorology, as well as agricultural studies and aerial maps. The research section of satellites is so important in the world that has led to the formation of remote-sensing science (RS).

Manteghi added: we will have satellites in the section of remote-sensing control in the next five years. It is important to know that the data used in other countries are provided for us and will be exploited in various sections.
