In the event of technological challenge of “production of new absorbent materials for oil pollution”, which was held by Hormozgan University and with the support of marine knowledge-based industries and technologies development headquarter, three projects were finalized in the area of oil pollution adsorbents.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, there are 1,400 oil spills per year, many of which are small in size, but some are also catastrophic.

Therefore, the challenge of producing adsorbents for oil pollutants was held by Hormozgan University and with the support of marine knowledge-based industries and technologies development headquarter.

Morteza Yousefzadi, secretary of this challenge, stated: this event is held to find new and scientific methods to create oil pollutant adsorbents.

Head of School of Marine Science and Technology of Hormozgan University asserted: four projects have patent registration and 10 projects have primary examples. The participants of this technology challenge came from fields of mechanical engineering, architecture engineering, fishery engineering, biotechnology, solid state physics, marine biotechnology, chemical degradation and environmental pollution.
