Communication and Information Center Emphasized by Issuing an Announcement:

The report of foreign media on emigration of elites is false

Issuing an announcement, the communication and information center expressed that the information and statistics presented by a foreign news agency on emigration of elites are false, announcing the judicial prosecution of publishers of this material.

According to the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs, after the publication of a report entitled “Islamic Republic of Iran, Brain Drain and Denial of Reality” on the website of Deutsche Welle, the public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency for science and technology affairs issued an announcement on false nature of the report and expressed some points.

In the announcement, some points have been mentioned that are completely false. For instance, we can refer to the report by the international monetary fund. According to this report, Iran is first among 91 developing countries with a high rate of emigration of elites. This report does not exist and such statistics are false from basis.

In addition, statements attributed to Dr. Bahram Salavati on statistics of emigration of elites are false. For instance, the statistics related to non-resident Iranians expressed by this person in an interview with Shahrvand Newspaper published on August 5th, 2019 have falsely shown 16 million people, which is in fact 1.6 million people.

According to this announcement, the statements attributed to Dr. Bagher Larijani, the education deputy of ministry of health, which are mentioned in the report published on August 13th, 2009, not contradict the statements he and the ministry of health accept, but also it seems that he had made no comment on emigration of elites and the author might have wanted to refer to 2019. Even if he meant 2019, the statements attributed to this political issue have been rejected on the same website and on the same day.

The statements attributed to Dr. Salarieh, the deputy for national elites foundation, which said: “25-30% of students and experts of the country have left Iran during 2008-2018, are completely false and no such comments have been made by this person.

In another part of the announcement, it is expressed: these are some examples of false statistics in the report which has presented inaccurate information on emigration of elites from Iran. Therefore, it seems that the mentioned report was biased and based on political orientation, relying on unsubstantiated statistical sources on the Internet and cyberspace.

The public relations and information center of the Vice-Presidency asked the domestic and foreign media to receive their information from valid statistic sources, such as Iran Migration Observatory which is affiliated to Sharif University and the national elites foundation.

The center also reserves the right to prosecute allegations against officials and to disseminate false material through legal channels.
